About AirPrint
AirPrint enables you to print photos, email, Web pages and documents from your Apple device directly to your Canon printer without installing a driver or additional software.
To use AirPrint
First, check your environment:
- AirPrint operation environment - To use AirPrint, you need an Apple device running current software. You can print from iPad (all models), iPhone (3GS or later), or iPod touch (3rd generation or later).
- Network environment - The Apple device and your Canon printer must be on the same Wi-Fi network.
Printing with AirPrint
- Check that your is printer turned on and connected to the local network (LAN). To check the printer's network settings (also known as LAN details), click here for instructions on printing this information.
- From the application software of your Apple device, tap the operation icon to display the menu options.
- From the menu options, tap Print.
- From Printer Options, select your printer.
Note: Some apps do not support AirPrint and thus Printer Options may display. If an app does not let you use printer options, you cannot print from that app.
- Change settings in the Printer Options screen as desired.
Options can differ depending on the app and printer model. Some common options include:
- Printer: Select a model that can be used in your wireless LAN.
- Number of Copies: Select the number of print copies.
- Double-sided: If the model supports duplex printing, you can enable or disable this function.
- Range: The page range can be used only with specific application software and file types (such as PDF files).
- TapPrint. The printer prints according to the specified settings.
Good to know
About paper size
For some models, the following paper sizes are used when printing via AirPrint:
- For Apple's photo app, the default paper size is "4x6" or KG (except in Japan where it's size L ).
- Documents printed from Safari browser default to letter size in the United States region, and A4 in Japan and Europe.
For other models, you can register the size and type of paper on the operation panel. The registered paper size and type will be used when printing via AirPrint. For more information, please click here .
Checking the print status
During printing, you can check the print progress. To do this, press the Home button on the Apple device twice, then tapPrint Center.
Deleting a print job
To delete a print job with AirPrint, use one of the following two methods:
- At the printer: Use the operation panel of the machine to cancel the print job.
- With your Apple device:
- Press the Home button twice.
- Tap onPrint Center to display the print job list.
- Tap the print job to be canceled.
- Tap Cancel Print.
Troubleshooting
- If the document does not print, check the following:
- The printer power is on. If it is, turn it off and then back on again, and check whether the issue is resolved.
- The printer is connected to the same network subnet as the Apple device.
- The printer has enough ink and paper.
- The printer is not displaying an error message.
- If the problem persists, use the printer driver on your computer to check whether the document can be printed normally.
- If the document cannot be printed, refer to the Online Manual for your model.
Note:
- After you turn on the machine, it may take few minutes before the machine can communicate through a wireless LAN connection. Confirm that the machine is connected to the wireless LAN, and then try printing.
- If Bonjour on the printer is disabled, AirPrint cannot be used. Check the LAN settings on the machine, and enable Bonjour.
