How To Get Phantom Armor Botw
The Zelda: Breath of the Wild DLC 1 Treasure locations are one of the core additions to the first part of the game's season pass.
Each outfit or mask - Tingle, Majora's Mask, Phantom and Midna - is inspired from a previous Zelda game, each offering adding unique abilities when Link wears them.
As well as the below we have a Zelda: Breath of the Wild DLC 1: The Master Trials guide, with help on the Travel Medallion location and Korok Mask location.
And if you're after help for the main game itself, then consult our Zelda: Breath of the Wild walkthrough and guide.
How the EX Treasure outfit quests work in Zelda DLC 1
When you start Zelda: Breath of the Wild DLC 1, a disembodied voice will give you a series of side-quests.
Four of these quests - which start with EX Treasure - all have starting clues from the same location in Outpost Ruins, so let's head there first.
Outpost Ruins is directly east of the starting Great Plateau area, and just south of the Forest of Time.
Fast travel to the Great Plateau Tower and glide off east. Inside the largest building to the south, head inside and find the book on the table, and get reading to learn about clues for the "eight priceless relics" inside.
To get each mask or outfit, travel to the location they refer to, and find a sunken treasure chest in that area. Magnesis will reveal it as a bright pink shape, then use that to pull it out in the ground to make it yours.
It's worth nothing that while each item gives you bonus effects, none of them can be upgraded, making them novelty items that are useful in the early game, but aren't a scratch against fully upgraded armour you might own later.
Tingle outfit location in the EX Treasure: Fairy Clothes quest
Tingle first appeared as a map salesman in N64 adventure Majora's Mask, but is probably most well known for his appearance in Wind Waker, making use of the 'Tingle Tuner' if you owned a Game Boy Advance. There are three parts to this outfit to find.
Effect: If wearing all three pieces of Tingle's Outfit, you'll get the Night Speed-Up effect, allowing you to sprint faster at night.
Location clues: "The green garments of the man who wished to be a fairy are hidden in the ruins of Hyrule Field."
"Find these pieces at the ruins where trade flourished..."
"At the ruins where sinners were imprisoned..."
"And at the village ruins next to farmland where many people once gathered."
The above hint at three items in the Central Hyrule region.
Tingle's Hood: Head to Exchange Ruins, which is just south of Windvane Meadow in the south part of Central Hyrule. We fast travelled to the Kaam Ya'tak Shrine, then travelled south-east. Once there, there is a chest buried on the east side containing the Hood - use Magnesis to unearth it.
Tingle's Shirt: This is in Castle Town Prison, the large island to the west of Hyrule Castle. (It's the same island as Noya Neha Shrine, if you have that unlocked). It's another case of unearthing a sunken chest using Magnesis, but beware of the Guardian patrolling nearby.
Tingle's Tights: This is in Mabe Village Ruins, which is just left of Range Ruins and south east of Sacred Ground Ruins. In the southern part of the Ruins is a dead Guardian on some water; from the right angle with Magnesis you can see chest buried underneath. Pull it out and the Tights are yours.
Majora's Mask outfit location in the EX Treasure: Ancient Mask quest
This is inspired by the titular Zelda game on N64 (and later re-released on 3DS), designed to make Link look like the Skull Kid.
Effect: Equipping this will see minor enemies (Bokobins, Moblins and Stals) ignore Link, allowing you to wander past unhindered, which could be useful for those who want to avoid combat.
Location clues: "The ancient mask lies at the ruins where soldiers gathered. From there, the waters of Lake Kolomo are visible."
This chest is at Kolomo Garrison Ruins, which is on the shore of Lake Kolomo, which is a very short distance north-east from the starting Great Plateau area.
We recommend fast-travelling to the Oman Au Shrine (Magnesis Trial) and gliding over, where the structure is visible.
When you approach, there's no need to go inside. On the southern side is a corner with a buried treasure chest. Use Magnesis to lift it out of the ground, then open it up to get Majora's Mask.
Phantom outfit location in the EX Treasure: Phantasma quest
Phantoms were a knight appearing in DS adventures Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks, the latter of which saw Zelda possess to help Link when dungeon crawling.
Effect: Wearing all three pieces of Phantom armour will increase Link's attack power, which could be helpful for dispatching enemies quicker, assuming you're happy to opt out of possible defence boosts other pieces of armour could give you (such as the Midna mask, discussed below).
Location clues: "Armor worn by fierce phantoms, feared even by heroes, is hidden in the ruins of Hyrule Field."
"Find these pieces at a battleground where brave souls tested their skill..."
"At ceremonial grounds where royal guards are honored..."
"And at the ruins where the soldiers of Hyrule gathered."
These clues point to three locations within the Central Hyrule region.
Phantom Helmet: Inside Colosseum Ruins, which is just west of Outskirt Stable. The chest is inside the ruins itself, in the north west corner, against the wall. Seemingly easy enough, but there is a white Lynel stalking nearby (!) which you should be careful about.
However, if you save just outside the ruins on the north side, where you can walk in, try and sneak hugging the wall and you can avoid it. (And then fast travel away as soon as you open the chest.
Phantom Armor: Head to Sacred Ground Ruins, which is a fountain-like structure south of Hyrule Castle and Hyrule Castle Town Ruins. The chest is in the water on the south east side.
Phantom Greaves: Travel over to Hyrule Garrison Ruins, which is south-east of the Central Tower. On the east side is a dead Guardian, with the chest in the rubble right next to it.
Want more help? Our Zelda: Breath of the Wild walkthrough and guide steps to completing the game's main quests - including Divine Beasts Vah Ruta, Vah Rudiana, Vah Medoh and Vah Naboris - as well as how to find the Master Sword, Hylian Shield and all Captured Memories locations and Great Fairy Fountain locations, while our Shrines locations and Shrine maps hub explains where to find and solve every puzzle room, including dragon locations and Labyrinth solutions. We also have advice on how to beat Guardians, where to get easy Rupees, tame horses, find how to get cold resistance, fire resistance and heat resistance, and learn the most effective means of cooking with ingredients for bonus effects. We also have a DLC 1 guide and DLC 2 guide, including all Tingle, Majora's Mask, Phantom, Midna outfit locations.
Midna mask outfit location in Zelda DLC 1
Midna was a central character in Twilight Princess on Wii and GameCube (and a later Wii U) adventure, and this DLC allows Link to wear her mask.
Effect: Equipping the mask adds the Guardian Resist Up to Link's defence, which will come in handy when facing off against Guardians.
Location clue: "The princess of twilight, whose stories are handed down alongside those of the Hero of Twilight... her helmet can be found at the temple ruins soaked in the waters of Regencia River."
This sunken chest is in the Sage Temple Ruins, on the western edge of Central Hyrule, specifically between Satori Mountain and Giant's Forest in a waterlogged area.
The chest is in the north west corner, next to a Rusty Claymore and Rusty Shield. The Ruins are filled with lightning-firing enemies, which can quickly overwhelm you, so we recommend heading around the western edge and approaching from there for a better chance of survival.
Even though you have now hunted down eight pieces of new equipment, there's still much more to find. Our Zelda: Breath of the Wild DLC 1: The Master Trials guide explains what's left, while we also have pages on Travel Medallion location and Korok Mask location. Happy hunting!
