Archive or delete messages, calls, or voicemails

You can hide messages and conversations or delete them from Google Voice.

For Voice for Google Workspace accounts managed by your work or school, text messaging is available only in the US.

Archive text conversations, calls, or voicemails

You can archive a text conversation, call, or voicemail from your Google Voice inbox without deleting it. If someone replies to a text conversation you archived, the messages show up again in your inbox.

Delete text conversations, calls, or voicemail

After you delete a conversation, call, or voicemail from Google Voice, you can't access it again. It may be stored on your devices or the devices you contacted.

Important: You must delete each conversation individually.

Delete text messages

After you delete a text message from Google Voice, you can't see it again. It may be stored on your devices or the devices you messaged.

Delete one message

  1. Go to Google Voice.
  2. On the left, click the tab for Messages Messages tab.
  3. Click the conversation.
  4. In the expanded window, next to the message you want to delete, click Options More and then Delete and thenDelete.

Important: If you use a Google Voice account with work or school, you may not have this feature.

Delete multiple messages

  1. Go to Google Voice.
  2. On the left, click the tab for Messages Messages tab.
  3. Click the conversation.
  4. Hold down the Shift key and click the messages you want to delete.
  5. In the top right of the expanded window, click Delete Delete and thenDelete.

Delete call history

You can delete all calls in your call history at once.

  1. Go to Google Voice.
  2. In the top right, click Settings Settings.
  3. On the left, click Calls.
  4. Next to "Remove call history," click Remove.
  5. In the box next to "I understand," click Remove.

Important:

  • If you delete call history, it removes all past calls. This may take up to 2 days to complete.
  • If you use the Voice app on mobile or desktop, you may need to restart the app to show your updated call history.
  • Call records may still be retained for billing purposes; as legally required; as requested by Google Workspace administrators; or as otherwise described in the Google Voice Terms of Service.
